Fort Sackville Surrenders to George Rogers Clark

After marching 180 miles from Kaskaskia and a siege of two days, Fort Sackville, at Vincennes, in present day Indiana, falls to Clark, who captures the British Lieutenant Governor of Detroit, Henry Hamilton, along with the fort's garrison. Hamilton is sent to Williamsburg in chains. Clark's achievement effectively ends the war in the Illinois country.
