Germain Succeeds Dartmouth as Secretary of State for the Colonies
His heart not into any effort to compel the colonies to submit using armed force, Lord Dartmouth resigns as Secretary of State for the Colonies in favor of the much more aggressive George Germain, who will exercise primary responsibility for conducting the war until the fall of North's ministry in 1782.
