Lord Dunmore Requires Magistrates to Stop Appointment of Delegates to Continental Congress

Diverging slightly from Lord Dartmouth's circular letter of January 18, Lord Dunmore proclaims to Virginians that he is commanded by the King to require "all Magistrates and other officers to use their utmost Endeavours to prevent any such appointment of Deputies." No officers respond and Dunmore takes no other action.
