Virginia's House of Burgesses Asks King to Stop Parliament

In a petition that many in London, including the King, believe reflects an improper interpretation of the British constitution and its history, the House of Burgesses asks George III "to procure a Repeal of those disagreeable Acts of Parliament" in the form of taxes that the national legislature has imposed on the American colonies.
