Treaty of Hard Labor Signed with Cherokee

The first of the treaties intended to fix the western boundaries set by the Royal Proclamation of 1763 is signed with the Cherokee at Hard Labor, South Carolina. The second, the Treaty of Fort Stanwix, New York, is signed with the Iroquois three weeks later, on November 5. Neither effectively lessens the tide of colonial settlement.
