"Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania" Begin to Appear

Perhaps the most important political pamphlet of the revolutionary period, John Dickinson's "Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania" begin to appear in Pennsylvania newspapers such as the Pennsylvania Gazette. Challenging the Townshend Duties on legal and constitutional grounds, they are soon reprinted throughout the colonies, starting with the Virginia Gazette on December 24.
